My Seth Thomas De Maelzel Metronome just "quit" working! Can anyone fill me in as to why?
I've had it for 4 or 5 days now. It was working just fine. Then yesterday, I wound it up and it did nothing. The only thing I can think of that I did before that that MAY have made some difference, is that after it ran out of potential the last time it worked, I set the pendulum back in motion a couple of times, thinking that it would be good for the mechanism to be completely unwound before I closed it back up. Did I break it by doing this? Does anyone know what happened and how I can fix it myself? Or do I need to consult a clock repair shop?
Sounds like the spring broke, but I don't see how moving the pendulum could do that unless you forced it. Repair shop?, well check costs for a replacement on eBay
