Is there something that I can use to wind my grandfather clock besides the actual key it needs?

i know i need a special tool but is there anything else i can use till i get one?

if it was a male key then get a set of allen wrenches and experiment with those...if it was a female key try a 1/8 inch socket or smaller

Winding tools and pliers as hand held tools for watch making

Bergeon Button Winder 3 – 5 mm has a plunger that opens and closes the jaws.
